The Gosford U16 Girls kicked off their first cup match in heavy rain, facing a formidable Chinnor side. Despite the challenging weather conditions, both teams showed resilience and determination, making for an intense and hard-fought encounter.
As the first half kicked off, it was clear that this was going to be a battle, with Chinnor putting up a strong defence. However, the Gosford U16 Girls' relentless attacking paid off, with a well-worked try from Lola, setting the tone for the game. This was followed up with two fantastic tries from Eve and Bella quickly followed up with two tries of her own, cutting through the Chinnor defence. Before the half was over Monica and Taia both scored and with 2 excellent conversions from Immy the half time score was 39-0.
The rain stopped for the second half and the sun started to come out, but the conditions were still very slippery. This didn't dampen the team's spirits. Lily and Sophie soon added their names to the scoresheet just 10 minutes into the second half, and Immy gained another conversion. With 25 minutes remaining in the second the game was called with the final score being 53-0.
In the end, the Gosford U16 Girls emerged victorious, securing a commanding win in their first cup match. Despite the challenging weather, they displayed great teamwork, resilience, and a fighting spirit that promises an exciting cup run ahead.
